I thought when I graduated from college that my days of pulling all-nighters were over. Now I work for a government contractor and the only thing that has changed is that instead of worrying about a bad grade I worry about getting fired.

Get ready for the real world kids!

I too work for a government contractor. Once in a while, if a project is drawing to a close, we will pull some all-nighters, but I can't say that gettin fired is a fear. I would start looking for a new job if I were you.

Ahem.....
I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid
theres a million toys at Toys R Us that I can play with
from bikes to trains to video games it's the biggest toy store there is!
I don't wanna grow up, cause if I did,
I couldn't be a Toys R Us kid.

Yeah I know, kinda sad i remember that song, but we didn't have a toys r us here when I grew up so I practically idolized that place as a child. Heaven on earth.
On topic.....dude, that sucks. I hope to never have a job that requires me to do that.

I think what's more sad is that when I started reading the lyrics the old commercial from the '80s started playing back in my mind.

So the college world isn't real? It's a figment of people's imagination? All those people, living a fake life and never knew it.

"Real world" puh-lease. The working world is what you make of it.

Done both. College is a JOKE compared to a job and family, unless you are holding down a job, taking care of a family and going to school all at the same time.

I'll concur that living the "college" life is Fantasy Island compared to life outside of a campus. A proper attitude can help, but it doesn't change the fact that in most cases a full-time student as compared to a full-time worker has got it "made in the shade", in terms of responsibilities, time on their hands, etc.

Pull the way too often, clients have these really tight reporting deadlines and of course the completely slack off on there end of the work which forces us auditors to pull some late nights. When your working 7-days a week and yet to pull out of a client site until 2am at the earliest you know your life sucks!
Damn companies and there earnings release dates!

Did University while I had my daughter and school was a joke compared to what I do now. Give anything to go back to school where the deadlines are much easier to cope with!
