Your initial post didn't mention jumping the car, only re-charging. However since PCM is still under warranty you should fight the charges, although you may have to pay dealer first and fight Ford later.

Make sure you recover old PCM since there is a chance dealer is wrong and that it's only key programming problem and not fried PCM.

Yes Horsey...
from our 99's Owner's Warranty Guide:
""...Under the Emissions Defect Warranty for passenger cars and light duty trucks, Ford Motor Company also provides coverage, including labor and diagnosis, for 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for these emissions parts:
² catalytic converter
² electronic emissions control unit (PCM)
² onboard emissions diagnostic device"

Advise getting service manager to confirm this warranty as long as you're within mileage limits.

Take along your "Owners Guide" and show the manager how you recharged it.

You did not state that you jumped the car but charged it. Did you disconnect all battery cables first before charging. If so then the PCM should be covered under warranty. If not well then you are buying a PCM. Good luck.

Buy a wrecking yard PCM. Should be less than $100.

Check www.car-part.com to see which wrecking yards have PCMs for your car.

A PCM is one of those things that I would never buy new for a car.

Also, be aware of the fact that Ford dealers have a harness that allows them to program the PCM out of the vehicle.

I don't know if it'll allow them to program keys though...

Here's the cost breakdown, $577 all inclusive labor, 2 keys, and the PCM. As far as the jumping part went. I tried jumping the tour with my Saab, didn't work. So I pulled the battery out and threw it on a charger overnight and it was fully charged threw it back in the tour and voila' nothing happened. So I called roadside assistance and they picked up the towing bill to Ford, and that is where it sits til friday. Thanks for all the help, if I knew it was that easy I would have swapped it out myself, but its already at the dealer and I will let them take my cash. Next time my wife drains the battery, I will have to hook her up to the charger... :p

spdey,
Do you think you hooked up the charger or jumped batty incorrectly?

Did you ask about the warranty on the PCM?
