it was already VERY low to begin with. this wasnt always my car and apparantly the last owners (my parents) didnt do a damn thing with the fluid. im talking to roadrunner and he has been a great help over AIM. seems like nothing overflowed because i didnt have that much to begin with. Since i still have the old oil still in there, should i just drain until its fine, or flush completely to start fresh? i know that my old fluid is very bad.

i know this is sorta costly (i use mobil1 atf, so think double, triple, quaddrouple ((sp?)) the price for me) but I would just drain 4 put in 4 (or what is needed to get to full) over and over again until you're satisfied. I did it 3 times a few months ago ($60) and plan to do it another time soon and then probably one more time before I go away to college in late 2004.

Has anyone taken out their TSS sensor before? I spent the last 3 and a half hours trying to get that piece of [censored] out. I broke the outside part of it. I drilled holes in it, put screws in it, and used the back part of a hammer to try and pull this thing out. What happened is that i ended up breaking the heads of the screws. It is sitting very TIGHT. I used wd-40, i used every tool known to man. WILL NOT BUDGE.

one of the reasons I'll never touch my TSS unless I get a CEL (or CTL, check tranny light,,flashing OD light and get code pulled) for it. other reason being that the new TSS MAY not work well with older trannys that aren't very close to spec. (new TSS has weaker magnet)

I was already there, infact it was the first thread i've posted in. Although they had some tough times with it, I dont think any of them had a bad of a time as I did. I did the drilling and putting in screws after reading it from there. Too bad the heads of the screws broke off. Now i have 2 headless screws jammed in the sensor, and after all those hours of work, still didnt budge. I dont know what im going to do now.

WHAT THE [censored]!!!! I just spent another two hours today trying to get that dang thing out. I took the bike to work today, and on my way back I got a flat tire. I had to walk in 90+ degree weather for about 5 miles with a bike with a busted rear tire that makes a lot of noise. Talk about embarrasing fun! I am having the worst week of the summer. Does anybody have any other ideas on how I can get this sensor out? Ive tried everything short of taking it to the mechanic. I would take it to the mechanic and let them play with it, but I have no money for that. Ive tried wd-40, gear lubricant (80w90 oil), pliers, hammers (prying side), drilling in screws (heads broke off on all but the steel screws, and those end up breaking the plastic around it to free itself). ANY IDEAS? I remember back in 5th grade when I played the trumpet, the mouth piece wasnt supposed to be pulled out, but twisted. One time I pulled at it and it got really jammed. My teacher had to use a special tool to twist it out. Now, is there some way i can get a way to twist this sensor out? The tip of it broke, so I basically have a little plastic nob with screws sticking out of it.

If you have any ideas, even if they seem stupid, post it. Dont let this thread sink with no answers!

The only thing I might be able to add...

Since you have the entire top of the sensor off, which moves the connector out of the way, you might be able to rent a striped nut remover tool set from a local parts store like AutoZone or something like that. Take the tool and work it onto the outter sensor houseing and twist it out or at least free it up some.

Craftsman - Bolt Out

I hope this at least can give you some ideas.

Yeah, I am screwed.

Today my dad took a shot at it. He basically ripped the rest of the plastic that was sticking outside of the hole. Now I have useless pieces of plastic sitting inside. We've come to the conclusion that the rubber ring is keeping it from coming out, but is letting it twist as it sits deeper in the hole. We dont know what we will do, tomorrow we are going to talk to a friend who fixes up cars, and probably going to a mechanic to get it out. Oh yeah, I havent tried to drive the car around without the sensor plugged in, but after today's fun I wanted to see how it would be like. So as I got in the car and put it in reverse.... nothing happened. The idle didnt drop, no sound, I let off the brake, and I moved slightly. I step a little on the gas, and nothing is happening, the rpms just rise. Does this have to do with today's sensor fun, or is my transmission finally gone? It wont work in any of the other gears either, not drive, not 1, not 2. I had to put it in neutral and push it back to my parking spot.

By the way, the car drove fine without the sensor each time i wanted to move the car off the street and onto the driveway so i can try with the sensor again. it hasnt been plugged in since the first day. so is today's shifting problem unrelated to the sensor going a little deeper in?
