Pretty much covered it in the subject line. I've trolled through the last year's A/C posts and couldn't find an answer to this specific question.

Background: A/C won't blow cold. The compressor won't come on when A/C is selected (verified no power at the compressor with a circuit tester) The relay that controls the compressor can be heard clicking and is NOT defective. This was verified by temporarily swapping for the starter relay (same relay) The WOT compressor cut-out relay (the blue one) is defective....at least I think it is. It is burning hot so I think it's shorted. I've ordered a new one. The system was tested for leaks and found to be tight.

Question: Will a defective WOT compressor cut-out relay cause a general A/C compressor non-actuation failure? Ie: will the circuit be made to the A/C compressor when the A/C is selected on the dash switch only when the WOT relay is also OK and present?

If I had a circuit diagram I guess I could verify this for myself but I'm leaning on your collective wisdom.
