I finally dug up my pictures of the SVT hooked to a hitch with a UHaul trailer behind it.
This was in 1999 or 2000, and I obviously have my winter wheels and tires on (15x6.5). Tires are 205/60HR15 and you can see how little the rear suspension sagged. The UHaul trailer was full of furniture and books.
I know, it's not ideal, but it can be done!
The photos suck a bit, because I took digital photos of 4x6 prints.
