At 99k miles, my IMRC cable broke, so I ended up replacing it with a steel bicycle brake cable. Now, at 107k miles it broke again...does anyone have any suggestions for a new cable that won't break, or have an old cable they can sell me?

thats what you get for using a bike cable
To answer your problem you might have a problem attaching the new cable to the old imrc box(of course you somehow managed to jerry rig the bicycle cable). I have a old imrc box in my garage if i can get the cable un hooked from the box with out having to cut it, you can have it. pm me to remind me
update i just looked at mine and theres no way i can get the cable out with out cutting the box(wich is thick metal) or cutting the cable wich is pretty badly frayed already from 70k miles of use. Maybee try jerry riging it again

You can have the one off of my 2.5. My new 3L doesn't have secondaries.

You might want to ask yourself, "Self, why does the cable keep breaking?"

The reply should be something like "Probably because the butterflies are binding on all the built up junk in the LIM."

Lance has been listening to too much Talking Heads.

I think his fix to the original problem didn't hold properly.

Well I got sick of having to keep the car under 4k, so i spend the $3 and bought another bike brake cable and fixed it. In order to attach the cable to the plastic wheel inside the IMRC, I modified it with a dremel the first time so it would hook in. I could still use a fresh cable though, so email me if you have one. Oh......the secondaries don't seem to be gunked up, the force needed to open them seems like its just spring tension. Hopefully this cable lasts longer, IMHO the whole design of the IMRC seems stupid as f***
