Yes it's common and non-life-threatening as far as I know. The oil pan seal appears to weep a little, but it wouldn't drip on the floor as far as I've experienced.
After my top-end mods (see profile pics for detail) I also had a leaking valve cover gasket. Check there and around the crankshaft pulley.
