I was just noticing how few posts we zetec owners have in our maintenance forum compared to the duratec guys. I could be way off base but i think i feel better having the zetec.

I agree. To be fair though, the number of Duratec members far outweighs the number of Zetec members (and understandably so).

Also, lets not forget the facts that we have a larger aftermarket support, can adapt more parts to our engine, and have an easier time working on our engines.

have an easier time working on our engines my ***. duratecs have timing chains that don't need replacing in the normal life of the engine. their h2o pumps take less time to replace and there are a few other things.... though we can change spark plugs and o2 sensors easier.

Our water pumps shouldn't need replacing like the ones on the duratecs... I think it is believed they are of different design...timing belt should be good for 100k if you maintain the engine properly. And we don't have to worry about oil starvation on hard right hand turns and spun bearings and throwing rods as easily as the duratecs... It's just an over all better built engine... then again I tend to be biased...

And we don't have secondaries that start sticking closed or open beyond 50k miles or so. When they work, they're an awesome design. When they don't they're a frustrating biyatch (I know, I've witnessed Po-Jay's frustration firsthand for months).

yeah and my car is nearing 100k miles so i have the joy of doing the timing belt and i'm also doing the h2o pump while i'm in there just so I won't have to worry about it and I know my car shouldn't break down on a trip I plan to go on in a few months.

not sure if zetec is german or english or what. but the duratec was designed by porshe, reengineered by ford (i think, for fitment in our cars), and casting process developed by cosworth.
