How many people who own a zetec tour even bother to fix it themselves? Maybe thats the thing. More peeps who on a duretec are looking for the performance, so they care more about problems being fixed by themselves. Most of the people that I see driving zetec cars (what ever model it may be) tend to be families or people that cant afford the higher powered cars.
Thats just my oppinion.

I fix my Stique by myself. D Davis custom fabbed his own intake....among other things....D quit clearing your throat....I modified an intake that was supposed to go on a Honda/Acura, removed all the resonators, going for some exhaust mods...oh and some others are FI so we are up there with ya in that relentless pursuit of...."can we make it faster?"
But as far as doing my own maintenance, yup, you betcha. I have a hard time letting anyone touch my car due to bad experieces.

yeah so i guess top two reasons are: 1.less zetecers on the board 2.less performance oriented contour owners have zetecs
3.we may have less problems, atleast you never have to mention DMD, spun bearings, etc. for a zetec, even h2o pump is more long term maintenance kinda thing for us.

Like I said, just my oppinion. Most of the peeps who like the tour and are on the site are the duratec owners though. You have to admit that. I own a zetec and love my tour, but most of the people I see around my city who have cars with zetec engines in there could care less about their cars. And thats why they have dents, missing parts, covered in dirt, and I saw one yesterday driving around on a spare tire!! And not cause their tire just went flat, this spare had some miles on it you could tell. The people who love their zetecs and baby them most likely read this forum. But most zetec drivers don't care. It's sad.

Hey if you keep it clean and presentable you baby it. If you do like in the jacka$s movie and enter a distruction derby with your contour (watch it's hilarious and adds a new meaning to air bags) then you don't. I would like a set of airbags like they have in the jacka$s movie. HEE HEE -Rob

From info I've seen in this forum & otherwise on the net, the Zetec has been around for a while in various displacements & is an English Cosworth/Ford design....

Damn thats good...Copywritten biotcheS!!!!!
In other words there are quite a few people that mod thier Zetecs and are looking to get more out of it. Ask anyone in a Duretech or Zetec thats followed Hector and myself around.
ILSean, Hector and myself had a conversation similiar to this at Portillos. I think Hector is well known on the board for his accomplishments. Then we also have sleeperz, wannabsvt, ddavis, myself, sosaudio and Kremit that for whatever reason we all own Zetecs and love to make them go.
None of us own the fastest Contours on CEG, but it's fun to try and keep up with the big dogs.

I hope to be fastest again, or atleast give the turboed SVTs a run for their money. If a Zetec owner really wanted too, he/she could easily be the fastest Contour around. I believe Demon Dynamics stils has a 300HP Turbo Kit. Cost us a bit more, but we are starting with a bit less.

I don't try to keep up with anyone, sorta hopeless with this ATX. I do plan on keeping the car for a long time, like as long as I can find parts for it. By the time I am in a position to sell it, it'll be worth far less than what I've put into it, so why sell it. I'll just keep it as a little project car when I'm outta college and hopefully have it built up before I have kids and settle down. I think the mechanical engineering degree I plan on getting may help me with some of the plans I have for the engine.
