Doing this is NOT the optimal way to launch your vehicle.
When you hold the brake and rev the engine, as the RPMs increase,
there is a factor of acceleration in the RPM increase.
Holding the accelerator until the engine doesn't accelerate its rpms any longer,
kills the momentum of the engine acceleration.
So now when you let go of the brake, the engine has to begin accelerating
from whatever RPM it is standing at.

By stoppping your engine from accelerating through the RPM range,
you are losing the energy and momentum that was already created.

Try it a few times both ways and see which way gives you an edge...
