I never brake-torque. It just seems to me like an easy way to put excess load on your drivetrain, and for all that people say about the CD4E being "marginal" for the Contour, I can't imagine wanting to push it.

i was just wondering wut people did instead of neutral dropping.and my friend bet me that torque breaking did little to no damage at all. wut do u do for a nice clean start of the line???? I know install those little hydraulic struts the are on indy cars so when they pit it just lifts the car up by a push of the button by the driver. now if you put those on the front and lift the tires off the ground ,put the car in gear start gasing and drop the front end and awaaaaaaayyyyy we go

It is only for a few seconds before you race.

When you out the car in drive, and then start to rev the engine,
you will feel a bump when the mounts have gotten to the end of their travel.
If you need to do this several times to make sure of the "bump" feeling, go ahead.

Since all you need to really do is to load the Engine and Tranny Mounts, then try this out.

When you hit the gas, release the brake once you feel the bump.
Don't wait for the engine to rev up till it won't rev any higher.
All you are doing is wasting gas and heating up your Torque Converter.
You've got to get this beast moving !

With a little practice, you'll know exactly when the mount will "bump"
and you'll be letting go of the brake at that exact moment.

You think you got a rush when the Contour took off from a loaded start ?
If you get it right, not only will you get a quicker launch, but you *might* get a little tire squealing as well...

Ok! Wife killing me to the side, I tried this today at a stop sign or two. Bump is very noticable, but timing is another thing. Once I got the timing just right, I was not prepared and it snapped my neck! That thing.... well let's just say that it took off!! OMG did it!

I really need a chip now though, because I noticed everytime that about a second after power would hit the wheels - you could feel a small, but quick loss of power. Then it would hook back up. Almost like I was spinning my wheels and then all of a sudden caught traction again. Not sure if a chip would solve this, but it does seem if I was to have a higher line pressure it would not happen. Oh well, I don't plan on doing this anymore so I can live without it right now.

would using the parking brake cause wheel spin? I mean if you have a rwd and put the brakes on it locks the front and spins the back.

Personally I wouldn't do this anymore. I used to nuetral drop but i dont want to kill my tranny or my tires.

e-brake can cause wheel spin if you have enough power and good enough brakes.

I just got the thing back, so I am going to take it easy right now. It is doing good right now, after a little over 200 miles since getting it back yesterday.
