I figure the sensor is gone because, like the last few times the car began to intermittantly over heat for a couple of days and then constantly, the fan no longer kicks in when the temp goes beyond normal, if I am driving on the highway I remain a bit above normal but once I slow down it starts to rise. When it first started to heat up I could just turn off the car, reseat the sensor connector and upon restart everything would be fine, this only worked two days now the fan is not coming on at all. I am not getting a CEL, which I thought I should of. I will pull the codes tonight. I have not replaced the wire harness, it is original.
Have you replaced the SENDER for the Temperature Gauge ?
If you car recently overheated, the SENDER could be damaged, and when it indicates that your engine temp is HOT, it actually isn't.
The SENDER for the Temp Gauge is different than the Coolant sensor. It only has ONE wire. The Coolant Sensor has 2 wires.
