I purchased a sock filter from a 1995 and made it fit. I cut the material off of the original plastic "frame" and used some zip ties and super glue to get the new one to fit. I also threw out the circular filter about 3 months ago and have had no problems. The problem with simply cleaning the circulat filter is that they seem to clog every 30,000 miles or so.
