I would not get my car painted there. There is a guy at my work that had his 5.0 Stang painted there and they did not mask off the trim well along with some bubling in the paint on the lower doors. If looks alright from far, but up close it is just nasty. This is the only car I have seen with a macco paint job, so not sure if this is rare or a common issue. Hope it helps.

dude dont go there unless you plan on selling the car real soon to someone that will not notice the paint. ive seen alot of cars with macco jobs and the clear coat starts to peel at any moldings cause the tape everything up. i work for a respectable shop and we do quality work. now maybe if you were to take all the moldings off and take the handles out and prep work it may not turn out as bad.

I'll go ahead and throw in another vote for NOT.

I got my 95 LX painted there, and it looked pretty nice, from about 200 feet away... otherwise, it was cloudy, not "wet" glossy... and some bubbling, an peeling in the clearcoat, and it even had some hair, and dirt in the paint... Same goes for any other cars I've seen with the "AA" paint...

I wouldn't do it.. unless, like someone already noted, you are selling it soon, and want that extra "oompfh.."

not sure if they'd do that...and anyways why not do all the prep work, buy your own paint, and have a "real"professional spray it....at maaco you get what you pay for...

my brother paints cars, not full time, but as a side thing, and his best friend is one of the best in the southeastern us,and after seeing what they can do,and what maaco numnutz do....you should definitely stick to a pro...

and as far as prep work goes, don't even bother if you don't know what you are doing, because a paint job is only as good as the body work and prep job underneath...do it wrong and your whole paint job will look like a$$...

Well what i know is this.

MAACO are franchised and so quality changes per the owner. Some believe in quality some dont. I know that alot of people dont like ehat the get BUT look at the price is what i say. How much time and effort do you expect for 225 or whatever the current deal is. That said i would think that if you did your own prep work talked to the owner and saw if he cared etc then you might be able to get a decent job...good enough for say autoxing but not for a show. Keep in mine that maacos most expensive is still half of what most places will charge. If you have a friend do it you may end up ok but you have nothing to go after if there is a problem. Go to maaco pay with a credit card and despute it if they do a bad job...thats the best thing you can do i guess if money is tight....

I am conflicted on this right now. I cant see spending almost again what i paid for my contour to fix the lightly cracking clear coat...yet i am not sure i want a sub 500 dollat paint job either....

Hmmm....are their any products that can cover this problem just from my eye? there used to be something that you sorta painte don the car that was almost like polyurethance or soemthing that basically re-clearcoated the car...but i cant remeber the product and since it is no loger around i have questions about its reliablity. etc

Would you really buy anything that has Burt Reynolds as a spokesman?
