David,

Did the cams you have look just like stock cams? I mean were they tubular camshafts with lobes put on them, or were they ground from a new camshaft blank?

BTW, have you seen the results of my Turbo project yet?

I know you were working on one and I wondered if you were still doing so?

Actually David Z had a set of custom (adjustable) cams from the Team Contour racing car. (IIRC Chris Reinke - spelling?)

Another 8-10 degrees of duration and 1mm of lift IIRC. They were made for a car running 12:1 and having it's powerband from 6-8k

Demon,
Could they be re-ground SVT cams? If there is only 1mm lift, that could be done on a regrind I think. Changing the power band from 4500-6500 could be as simple as adding the adjustible cam gears I'd say. You could phase the intake and exhaust independently on a dyno until you achieved the best balance of power in the range that you wanted. It must have taken work, but once they figure it out it would be cake from then on; especially for a racing team.
Sounds like we need just a tad more information about Davids cams. If jjenings could pull the front valve cover and spin the engine around so he can look at all sides of the camshafts in order to spot the laser etched part numbers in them then we'd know. IF they happened to be there that is.
I may still have the part numbers from my cams written down somewhere.

David,

Thanks dude! I'm designing my boost controller now and I think I have a solution for the first gear traction issues. Suffice it to say I won't be staying at 5.75 psi boost for long.

Tom

David, didn't you say your old cams had about 10mm of lift?

10mm huh...

You mean like 9mm (stock) + another 1mm right???

9 + 1 = 10...

...correct???

Just checking my remedial math skills here folks...
