The hole you drill into the cap is there so LIMIT the amount of the airflow throught the Idle Bypass Hose. This way, no matter how large the PCM opens the IAC valve, it won't flow any more air than the TH Fix allows. This allows the engine to drop to a lower RPM very quickly, so when you are powershifting, your Duratec reaches a lower RPM quicker so you can dump your clutch for the next gear.
You don't lose any power since the TH Fix only affects IDLE, and how quickly the Duratec returns to IDLE.
