The Focus intake directs air and feeds it into the intake when the car is moving.
When the car isn't moving (like a dyno), it acts like a cold air extension, and not a very good one at that, it is not a nice smooth bend radius and its a wierd shape.
The same thing can be achieved by adding dryer ducting to the end of the filter on the CTA intake filter and routing it to the fenderwell.
It adds a little bit of cold air but not much.
The filter will always draw air from the path of least resistence.
