damn man you did see the just kidding icons in my post right?????and what i meant by mine looking like it belongs in the engine bay, well it sure looks less out of place than a riveted up piece of sheetmetal imo....
and you still have no argument about it not being cheaper to make your own, because it is....my rubbermaid dish pan- $3...can of flat black spray paint(cheap stuff)$1....no other materials were involved besides a tape measure(which i already had)and a dremel tool to cut it to shape(could have used a razor knife etc.instaed of dremel)i also had the dremel tool...so that's still only $4....
and time???how is that a factor?????i personally enjoy doing work on my car and modding it...i look foreward to working on and modding my svt,and the wife's stang...so time spent making something to better my car is time well spent imho...and if you don't think so then i find it hard to believe you are a true car enthusiast imo....oh and btw it took about an hour to do the whole thing(make the heatshield, and do the total install)not alot of time to spend bettering your car imo...and if you look at time is money, then ok i spent an hour of my time(that's $20 if i go by what i make at work)(ok it was a saturday so that would be $30 time and a half)still only a total of $34 dollars, plus the priceless satisfaction of bettering my car my self...
btw its fine if you like their product,i'm glad someone is offering one(if they would get some customer service they might be ok)but just because you chose to buy yours, don't hate on the people that make their own, because i guarantee that some of the homemade ones look better than the dtec...i also don't think a heat shield should be made out of metal but that's another topic..
