i am just going to wait it out. these guys are respected members to my knowledge, so i will give them the benefit of the doubt for a while. also, i really want the heat shield. i am kind of sad to see the newbies running away from business though. i wish these guys would check out this post and see all the business that they are either losing or turning away.

I wanna add my piece to this thread. These guys are very busy. It took me about a month as well, but I understand. They have been swamped with orders and with Chad getting beat up by the cops, while my order was in the works, I'm sure that a day or two off didn't help there either. I think these two guys are the only ones doing the work and I'm sure that it isn't the only item on their plate. After growing up in my dads body shop, I knwo what it's like when you are by yourself and a ton of things happen in one day. After all, there is only one or two of you and hundreds of everyone else. FWIW, I love the Dtec heatshield. I, like derek, had to bend the bottom of it a little to make it fit that much better, but as a whole I don't think it can be beat. And for those out there that have a Rubbermaid trash can or whatever else in the engine bay I say because ours look so much better. Also, what happened to the days when we would buy from a CEGer before we would anyone else simply because we were supporting our own community???? Oh yeah, I remember now, the DMD issue. Shame on those that bash a product that came out the CEG. Community people, Ccommunity!! Mike

I'm not bashing their product, or the people. However, there are some basic rules that anyone (and I mean anyone like the Pope) has to follow. Any reputable seller has an obligation to keep his buyers informed of any delays or problems and has to respond to complaints.
I think the Dtec heatshield is a great example of members of this community being self-supporting. I'd still like to own one. The only thing holding me back is the thought of giving someone my money and not getting anything in return. It does happen from time to time, unfortunately (it almost happened to me).
I did forget about the whole cop incident, but still, not replying to multiple emails from buyers? That's not a good business practice for anyone to get into. As I said before, I'm very hopeful that everything will get resolved and we can all get back to business as usual.

When I wrote that, I wasn't aiming my gun at you. It was someone else, honestly.
These guys are working hard on this, that I am sure. True, it would be nice to have heard something for most people. When I ordered my piece, it took them awhile to respond back to me as well. Still, the product came in a respectable amount of time especially considering that it is sucha small operation for the size of their market/orders.
Maybe because I know these guys, not extremely well but I did have dinner with them when I was back in Co, that I was more patient with them. Or, maybe it was the fact that this is something coming from a fellow enthusiast within ceg that I'm not getting all bent out of shape.
The thing that irks me the most is the fact that so many people are in such a rush to get something right away and when their instant gratification isn't fulfilled they have to go off and bash the people who didn't have to do this in the first place.
Patience people, patience.

um ok say what you'd like, but my $3 rubbermaid painted flat black(so it actually looks like it belongs in an engine bay)heatshield certainly looks no worse than your ugly sheetmetal, pop riveted looking heatshield does,i'll tell you that much...and by the way that still left me with $60 left ver than what you spent so
don't hate on us because you are too lazy to make something yourself, and enjoy throwing money away....

I certainly didnt bash them or their product. I even posed an idea to help them out to keep customers informed. It takes less then 2 minutes to put a message in Outlooks out of office assistant if they are using it saying what is going on.. we are backlogged, or moving, or whatever and then people will get a reply and have an idea what is going on instead of absolutely nothing. Granted that cop incident sucked and I feel for him, but I am sure one of them could type a quick email and heck mass send one to all the inquiries or again the out of office assistant which will reply to all emails sent to them. Communication is the key here.. I have patience and if they said I couldnt get it to you for a month that is fine.. just let us know what is up.

I was not going to comment until I read this. This has very little to do with community and everything to do with business. Dtec is obligated to their paying customers to stay in touch, a month without knowing where your money is or when you'll be receiving your product (if ever) is simply bad business. I would do all I could to help out a CEGr but if it means being treated like poop, then it's on them - not me.

I think I'm with Mike on this one...I know Chad and Alex and I'm a patient person to begin with. Plus, they were cool enough to coat my CTA pipe for free! As I stated before, they make a very nice piece of equipment, and it is something that I was willing to wait for. -Derek

chrisilversvt- When you add almost anything to an engine bay, how does it look like it belongs there? In my 2002 Silverado, I have a K&N FIPK. This, I'm sure, has been through a lot more testing than what Dtec has done and honestly looks alot better than the Dtec. It still does not look like it belongs because it isn't a stock piece. I am not so cheap or lazy that I could not have made my own piece for my car. I do posses the skills and knowledge to do just that. However, factor in the time, effort and materials used to make such a product that actually works, I could not have done it cheaper. Would it have been more satisfying to have done my own? Most likely. Would it have been worth my effort? Maybe. Would it have been cheaper? probably not. Flummox- I agree with you, to a point. Unknown- I believe it has a lot to do with community. How many of the products that are currently available for the Contiques came from grassroots endeavors? I would dare say 75%, if not more. If it wasn't for people within the CEG that had a love for these cars, we wouldn't have most of the things we have now. How much of the aftermarket is even interested to begin with? I'll tell you. Very little and fading quickly as time goes on. I know this personally because I have been trying to work with a number of companies that most of which want nothing to do with Contiques.
Constructive criticism would be more useful here than the "I have a big problem with Dtec" or "Dtec sucks" or whatever else people have been saying. As stated before, I agree with those that have said it would have been nice to know...whatever it is you wanted to know. Nothing is perfect, ever.

This has nothing to do with not getting the product that was ordered. It's all about not even being contacted after repeated emails from several individuals.
Tell me that you're having some problems, personal or business, and I'll have all the patience in the world. At least have the professionalism to reply to at least one email.
BTW, I don't think anyone is bashing a product that came out of the CEG. It's the customer service that is being bashed. Like I said, a single reply to one person that could at the very least spread the word would go a long way.
I do hope they get everything worked out.
