If you have 5 pins on the connector, they are ready to go awaiting a transplant of the motor (for the harness containing wiring for the motor AND the heaters) and the heated glass. I know, because I recontented heated mirrors on my car built April 1997 (E0/98 SVT). They come right on when I hit the rear defrost button.
