I have 2 audiobahn 8" speakers mounted on my back dash. My Question is to mount them upside down ie. magnet outside of box, cone facing the inside of the box, would I have to change the volume of the box any. I think the current box volume is round' .34 cubes. would doing this affect the sound quality. My reason for this is that the audiobahns are really nice looking subs and i would like show them off. Loudness is not that important as being I have 2 ported 15" solobarics in the trunk.

Are you wanting to put the two subs together in an isobaric system?

You'd only need half the size box, then. But I think you're wanting to iso mount both of them?

I think he mans that he wants it like regular setup but instead of seeing the cone you see the basket. And i believe that mounting them the opposite will work just fine.

P.S. POst some pics of your system. Looks interesting.

Nah. I want to mount just one on the outside of the box, firing into the box. Similar to the iso but minus the inner sub. Maybe it is a iso setup, as being ive never seen one in real life, I aLWAYS thought it was only one sub firing in not two firing towards each other.

As soon as I finish redoing my install, and find a someone to host my pics, I'll post my pics.

Thank ya'll for the help.

You mean something like this???

Yes, it does affect the volume of the enclosure. I only have the one driver, none inside. I originally had it mounted the traditional way, but the driver took up too much volume, and as a result, the enclosure was too small and I was blowing subs.(This sub needs exactly 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure as recommended by the manufacturer or else bad things happen) Since I mounted it this way, it plays louder, lower, powerhandling is up and hasn't blown yet! (knock on wood).

Yeah thats exactly it. Did you change the enclosure or did you just reverse the sub? Did you have to widen the mounting hole. Is here any polyfill in the box?

Thanks for all your replays, 'preciate it.

Same enclosure, I didn't have to widen the opening any. Just switched the sub around. I do have a pound of polyfil in the box for better low end response. I also reversed the polarity of the sub, I found it helped the bass sound more up front.

Backing up what J-Lab said...

If the subs are side by side in the same box, you are going to want to hook up the "backwards" sub in reverse. Positive to negative, negative to positive. If you don't you will get weird phase cancellation problems. For ex. When one sub is firing out, the other will be firing in. That would be bad.
