I just went and bought a 2000 se sport. I would like to know the cheapest way to get as close to 200 horse as possible. Can i do it for under 1500 dollars? Part numbers or part names would be nice, thanks in advance.

A 3L swap!!! Most people just start out simple, like intake, SVT exhaust, SVT TB, SVT UIM and LIM. But if you really wanted to you could do a 3L swap yourself and the long block and all the other parts would put you up around $1500 to $2000.

On an otherwise stock 170HP Duratec maybe 10 HP/TQ at the wheels. Add another 5/5 for a Y-pipe. Top it off with a chip (higher redline and decent gains on the stock PCM using 92 octane fuel)
Those 3 will get you pretty close. (maybe 190-195 crank)
Well provided it's a MTX. If it's a slushbox you have no chance to ever make it very fast!

Aside from the 3L swap, is there any way to just bump up the low-end torque in the Duratec V6? Yeah you can move the redline with a new chip, but that doesn't help at all in the under-3000 rpm range.

........I sure hope you mean a stock or lightly modded ATX....I have A LOT of work into mine (when I'm not putting mods into my Vette) and it's far from slow.

Thank you...not say our ATX's are pavement scorchers or anything, but it's a DURATEC for crying out loud.
