My friend has been talking the big smack about my tour so i decided to shut him up. hes got a V6 cougar 5 speed and me an se 5 speed. he beat me off the start but once i hit 2nd, tires spin a lil, then 3rd, tires still squak, i think he realized i won. he was quite impressed as so was i.

hey the cougars have the regular duratec engines? i always thought they had the svt duratec

nope, only the prototype cougar s had the svt engine, which was never sent into production.

THen that was a ATX Cougar...
You do know the Contour and Cougar are the same tranny same engine wether it is an ATX or MTX.
It is simply a drivers race between these 2 cars.

Yes though the curb weight is different advantage going to the Contour.

Contour: Transmission Five-speed manual Curb Weight 3094 lbs SVT 3126 lbs 5 spd Cougar for a 1999-2000 is 3100 lbs. 5 spd Cougar for a 2001-2002 is 3200 lbs. So there is not that big of differance... still drivers race. Also Tim a guy here in Nebraksa has a 5sp 2001 and ran a 15.09 with just intake and exhaust so cougs are not that slow + he shifts like a crazy man.  I have a 1999 ATX and yeah it is slow as ass... so is an ATX Tour though.

We drove an ATX v6 Cougar and it felt very equal to the 96' SE we have...
