The best thing to clean your rims with is a car polish. Your rims if stock , are painted and have a clearcoat.

The multi-purpose windex, the amonia free kind, works wonders. The evil brake dust goes right away, and then just wipe the rims off w/ a clean towel. Now if they are REALLY covered in "junk" then it requires a bit more work. My rims are white so keeping them clean is a major pita!

I use regular car wash in a separate bucket with a sponge. I would have to say after using almost every wheel cleaner out there that the key to clean wheels is the length of time in between washes, and a lot of elbow grease! I wash mine once a week and I no longer need a separate wheel cleaner. Also wax them when you wax the car. Do you think Oxyclean would work if used in the same method as the Ajax(Paste)? Hope you get them clean! Good luck.

I would try some regular polishing compound. Then if that doesnt work; try some rubbing compound then finish it with polishing compound to make it shine.

What about a clay bar on the stock E0 SVT wheels? They're painted and clear coated right?

I used meguiars step one paint cleaner on the rust colored film, and it took it right off, for the rust it took quite a bit more work.

IIRC, I saw a thread on vwvortex about this and someone used bug&tar remover with great results, even on the baked on stuff.
