While sitting in the car, hit the trunk button on the remote. If you hear a click from the glovebox area, the transmitter is working fine. If you hear the click, it means your actuator isn't releasing. It's a $95 part and is located under the plastic cover just inside the trunk. A search might give you a part number too.
