I was going to buy a B&M shifter but someone else recommended cutting my factory shifter "thx". I must say I'm very happy with the results. After driving it around for a few minutes I can't believe I didn't do this or get a new shifter sooner. Thanks for the help Rich. Please excuse my messy interior as it's due for a cleaning.

Use a dremel and cut the shifter to whatever length you want. I cut mine around 2 in. You'll need a universal shift knob because you will be cutting off the threaded part of the shifter. Remove the reverse lockout feature by cutting the wire tie that holds the shift boot together. Then use a new wire tie to reattach the boot to the shifter and put on the new knob. If you need anymore help drop me a PM.

I don't believe you guys... This just equates rice...

Do you know that a short shifter is more than just cutting off the top of the shifter... The actual mechanism that engages the gear on the bottom half of the shifter is longer - thus causing the shift throws to be shorter.

Sigh....

Whats your point? The shift feels shorter this way too. The difference is night and day so don't knock someone who doesn't mind doing some custom modification himself rather than spend 150.00 on a new shifter. For someone on a budget this is a great mod. Thanks for the rice comment because I definately think my car looks riced out.

Why?
I hate it. Only senile grannys would try and shift into 6th gear on a car equipped with only 5 gears.
