50K miles on vehicle

Car sat idle for 2 weeks and then would not start.

Mechanic diagnosed failed fuel pump.

$608 for part/repair/tow

Is there known problems with Contour fuel pumps prematurely failing? Was I charged fairly? Any recourse with Ford? TSBs?

Thanks, any help or response appreciated

Welcome onboard.

I presume car turned over but would not start.

Hard to comment on cost without parts/labor/tow breakdown, but it doesn't seem unreasonable, since gas tank has to be dropped.

Have seen some, but not a rash of, failures posted.

Try the search feature:
fuel pump>problems>heading only>any date
to see a half dozen to peruse.
