i have a 98 svt contour that has a blown engine. the production date is 6/97. what is the difference in the early production date and the later date in 98. i cannot find an engine for the early date that i need but i have found plenty for the later date. can i use one of these later date engines with no problem. there has to be a big difference for the year to be split in half right? Any input would be much appreciated

No other issue that I can think of. Only diff that I know off is the 5hp increase.

I think the home page (FAQ?)has some info on 98.5 differences. Also I would get the PCM that goes with the engine you decide on.
You may have to get PATS keys reprogrammed to start engine.
