Why not just run a second Ford IAT and put a switch between the two? You could run relays to enable each circuit if you're worried about extending the wring or increasing the resistance by running wire to a cockpit switch. That way you keep your datalogging abilities and can quickly gain back to back runs to log before cooler and after cooler temps.
Run off of the "hot IAT" (the one before the cooler) and it would pull timing out for day to day driving, run off of the cooler one and the ECU would bump timing automatically for a day at the track.

I suppose I could do that, but I want something more permanent. I would like to have a gauge that tells me intake temp, plus the differential temp, or better yet intercooler efficiency all the time. There are some digital circuits that can be used to do math on converted signals, but I don't have that kind of knowledge. Time to call Steve, he's the EE! I might have to do something simple like have a digital display that reads a two digit number that represents intercooler efficiency in percent, plus a separate analog gauge that reads the intake temp right before it goes into the throttlebody. That temp is the actual important temp as the engine can make accurate adjustments from it.
For basic testing I think a thermocouple would be less work than a switchable relay system, and if I were going to go to the trouble, I might as well go all the way with the circuit that calculates efficiency. What do you think?

I believe autometer has a twin meter temp guage, I;ll see if I can dig up a link for it tomorrow.

last month's European car, that Pablo tc M3 got a gauge for all that sort of info (or a set of gauges for all that info since he was pushing like 18psi on forged internals and getting like 200F intake temp's before intercooling or something), it sounded VERY expensive to do all of that, might want to check that out. . .

I'd really appreciate that. I would settle for a twin temp gauge setup instead of building an efficiency readout. Although I don't know, I am kind of intrigued by what it will take to make a gauge to read intercooler efficiency. It might turn out real nice and I could provide them to other people much like that sunroof module (for those of you around enough to remember that!)
Rara, I'm too tired tonight to do anything as I have been up since 03:30 this morning and on a field mission all day. I just got home about 18:30 plus I have to get up at 04:55 tomorrow. I think I'll pass on doing temp measurements tonight, so you have to wait for good data.

As an FYI I hit 177 at 9psi today and it was 73 degrees outside. We haven't seen any warmer yet.
I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

Man that is just insane to be running!
When my IAT gets above 130 the car dogs out like a pig. I can't imagine after all the extra compressing!
I would think there is a serious amount of engine reliability and durability issues to be had like that!!!

That's pretty warm. I would think you should invest into the intercooler also. Look around for a used water to air intercooler, or maybe a core that has the end-tanks on it already and have someone Fab the inlet and outlet.
Thanks for the reference point though. Tell me, what psi was that at?

Ok, I see it now. By comparison, When I hit the 169F on the freeway it was at ~6.5psi. The heat from the turbo exhaust housing is probably a bit worse.
