It doesn't add any technology, it is only a performance standard.
Most of Pioneer's line of product could be THX Certified, but then why have an Elite line of products for ?
THX Certifcation is expensive, and just adds to the consumer's cost.
If you aren't building a Home Theater that is 100%, all THX Components,
then buying just a THX receiver isn't going to cut the Certification.

What is the most important, is what sounds best to you.
Each one of us has our own taste in audio, and as I like to say...

Sorry, but I've listened to Sony ES units against Denon units, side-by-side using the same speakers and the competitive Denon units simply produced better sound. I was considering the Sony DA7ES until I had the Denon 3803 slapped upside my ears.

Even with my untrained and ignorant ears I could tell a marked difference.

I would also get the denon above the sony. Look at audioreview.com before buying anything.
