I'll second that. I'm no audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I know a solid sounding system when I hear one. I spent close to 2 months listening to Harmon Kardon, Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, and even high-end seperates just to learn a few things from true audio-nazis at "audio boutiques" (where the sell Levinson, Krell, Lamb, etc.).

Dollar for dollar, nothing could beat the Denon 3803 I picked up. It's 7.1 capable, but I'm happy as a pig in sewage with the 5.1 setup I've currently got it tied to. No plans to take things any furhter; at least not right now...

I would have paid more attention to Onkyo (the DS-989 v2 upgradeability really appealed to me), but I've heard a few too many horror stories about their customer service...

Unless the unit starts acting like crap, I'm sold on Denon. There's MUCH more to a system than just the receiver, but for that piece of it, Denon's middle and upper-end products really shine.
