Actually as long as you don't go any larger than 1/4 inch it should still be able to heal with out the hole gaping open. I've seen some 0g and 00g closed up...it looked like a little slit. Nothing worse than some old lady that wore dangling earrings all the time. Mine are at 0g right now. I like to look a little different *shrug* It hasn't kept me from getting any jobs either.
