When I was sitting in Vancouver traffic in the heat today, the needle would go up to about the half-way mark but quickly cooled again when I started moving.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that, best to ask the question on a new thread! Make sure you tell them about the new rad etc and the temp that your guage reads when driving in the city/highway!
