Did you try looking at the post(s) at the TOP of the forum ???

There is a list of materials identifying not only the difference between 4 cyl and 6 cyl CD4E transaxles,
but the differences between the years and what was changed...

Sure did. Here's what I see at the top of the forums:

Of the stickys, I'm assuming you are refering to the 1st one as the others do not have anything to do with an ATX. I read through it and I saw a bunch of part numbers for rebuild kits / parts etc., but not anything definative as to what changed in the model years etc. The only thing I saw close was a different 'drive chain' for the 2.0l vs the 2.5l. The TSS sensor has been hashed through all over the place but I couldn't find anything to the effect of 'the 4cly ATX will bolt right up and be happy' or even 'no it will not work, the 4 cyl ATX is a POS and besides that the bellhousing is different'.

So the question remains... is it worth pursuing a 4cyl ATX to have on hand for use on a v6 car?

I'm sorry if I totally missed the point of your response but I haven't found the information I'm looking for via a search / courtesy read of the stickeys.
