In Jersey.. My buddy just got a job with Bloomberg, and he's paying $4800/month for his place on Wall Street.. They quoted him $560/month for a parking spot, so he just left his car with some family in Staten Island.

Manhattan is cazy, expensive as hell, and you really don't need a car if you live in the City, ya can't park (unless you are willing to bay big bux), ya can't really drive etc.

Now, moving to the bridge and tunnel borougs, such as Queens, BK, SI or nicer hoods in BX - well, it all depends of what ya are looking for...

I would say, Hoboken, NJ is a nice place to live - takes you about 10 mins to get to the City, the life is bustling, and the rent is not that unbearable...

Having lived in NY for 21 years, I can say that the state as a whole is HIGHLY overrated.

Leave your car off the island if you care at all about it. (Brought my car to the city ONCE, came back with a dent!!! )

And, get the KY ready when it comes time for rent.

My buddy just got an apartment there. Sublet... $900 a month. 11 x 5.5 ft room, shared living room. Three other guys, upper east side. Just visited him last weekend. Nice place but really small (the loft part has 5ft ceilings!). Nothing like NYC good and bad. Goodluck with it!

pnice where in the bronx r u. everyone's right. get something in bronx or brooklyn and take the train into the city. iguess u could live across the water in jersey and take the path in. i was living in soundview one block up from the 6, loved not having to drive into the city.

do u have a budget for a place. is your job helping to pay to relocate, find a place?
