The added air the 3L is pulling in at idle makes the IAC run open in a slightly different position than the 2.5 did. Mine didn't moose for about 6 months with the 2.5 intake on it, then the moose came back. He must have grown up a little bit because his voice changed an octave! Just give it time... I'm sure he'll be back to visit you too. Originally posted by Tim: What's moosing ?
Moosing is an air resonance that occurs on our cars through the idle inlet tract. Usually it first happens a couple of times on cold starts, then becomes more frequent as the IAC motor becomes dirtier over time. The throttle hang fix usually takes care of it, as does cleaning or replacing the IAC. IAC = Idle Air Control if you didn't know.

hrm.. I've never noticed any kind of an air resonance when I started my car on a cold day. Interesting. Maybe I'm just not understanding what you're calling an "air resonance." What does it sound like, if you had to compare it to another well-known sound bite ? And don't say a moose

The 3L pulls a tad more air at idle and that does change the idle position as PA stated. However, I never had moosing period UNTIL my IAC valve was replaced with a stock duratech V6 valve. They have different part numbers, so I traced it back to the dealer where they installed the wrong one. They ordered the correct valve and from then on it was like normal. Still is.
If its an SVT it probably won't come back. IF its an SE, don't worry unless it does come back, then change IAC to the SVT version of it.

FWIW, my IAC never ever moosed until a month after the 3L came to life. Imagine my surprise when a CEGer told me what that horrendous noise actually was.
