This is more than the normal alternator whine, though. Its very loud and can be heard half a block or so away. People are routinely turning heads across the street when they hear my car.
Since I'm at the correct mileage, it also crossed my mind that the water pump might be getting ready to fail, too, but most of the failure stories mention no warning whatsoever. Could it be possible for the water pump to be making that noise?
