From a post made by Terry further down the list, he mentions the 3 wires into the alternator.
THREE connections on the alternator...ONE HEAVY '+' cable from battery...a 'multi-pin plug to the regulator/brushes AND a SINGLE SPADE connector that goes in the bottom of the alternator for the 'excite' field
Maybe this will help to clear that up some. I would just make sure you plug them all in and dont' forget one.
