I was thinking of the open end one purely because with the way the SVT air box is set up, I think it makes sense. You have the end of the airbox going into the fender, why use a filter with a closed off end right there? It wouldn't flow as much as an open filter, but there would be little to no heat-sink problem, and it would still be better than stock. And it would be hidden and protected from the elements, or any animals (see an earlier post of mine) that like to make houses in engine compartments
