Hey guys, this might have already been discussed, but a friend recently brought up to me that a group put a SHO V8 Motor in the contour, beefed it up, and it dynoed at around 400 hp.
Does anyone know about this? If so are there pictures of the car?
Thanks, Jason

You would have to widen the hell out of the front-end to get it to fit...

Just mount it longitudinally and use some duct tape

The SHO V6 3.0L motor fits into a Contour with some minor modifications. Visit www.shoshop.com or check out the 3.0L forum for information. As for the V8.. ::chuckles:: Even if it could fit, the V8 SHO's are all automatics. If you really want to do it, and have the cash to back up said ambition, check out www.atimotorsports.comBut with that kind of sleep coin, why not just buy a really nice Corvette and stick a "Contour SVT" sticker on it.

Tim,
Unless you know something I don't know, I think they are putting in the 3.0L Duratec, not the SHO engine.
Two very different beasties.

Pass the pipe cos you're smoking crack. There's no effin way to fit the SHO 3L (which is a 90° V) into a Contour engine bay, crap, the 60° V block we have now barely fits! The 3L we are hybriding is the same block as the 2.5L, and it's NOT the SHO engine which it a TOTALLY different engine that was made by Yamaha. Get your facts right before spouting out some wive's tale you heard on the down-low.

Like I need an Australian to tell me what kind of crack I'm smoking (-: There's the greatest irony I've ever seen.
No need to go postal on me for a simple misunderstanding. I always thought the 3.0L engine that was possible to modify into our cars was that of a Taurus SHO, but now I realize it's nothing more than a simple Taurus short block. I read about it on shoshop.com many months ago, and obviously misunderstood.
Here's the quotation I'm citing:

The old adage ??There is no replacement for displacement? is still valid today. For every tenth of displacement increase we can expect 8-10 ft-lb. of TQ. The HP increase is dependent on airflow potential of supporting components.
A 3.0L short block from a 2000 Ford Taurus fits into Contour/Cougar. There are some minor alterations needed however, to make the short block accept your 2.5L heads.
Not like you guys were helping this poor individual with his question anyways, so you can kiss my yellow American butt for trying
