Are those the stock gauges? WOW!

Just wondering, how does the power feel compared to a stock CSVT? Other than power I think that focuses in general feel tight and solid compared to Contours.

Glad you're happy with it. I the the FSVTs are kinda slick looking. Didn't your car get hit about a month ago? Looks like all the damage is fixed.

The car accelerates similar to a regular Duratec Tour. A little less thrust, and the sudden push of the duratec opening the secondaries is missing. In a straight line I found it not to be as much fun, and I had issues with the gearing of the six speed. It definetly lacks the torque the V6 had which is to be expected. I was a bit dissapointed in acceleration frankly, much like when I test drove my first ZX3.

Then I took an off ramp and the dissapointment went away. I always thought my ZX5 handled better than Mean Green did (a 96 V6 Contour with SE shocks and springs), and this car cornered twice as well as the ZX5 does. Definetly an impressive handler. I would imagine that in a straight line, a CSVT would make short work of the FSVT, but in corners, the FSVT will hit .91 G and despite alot of body roll (amplified by your high seating position) it sticks like mad. Highway ride, the CSVT would have a better powerband for passing and of course a higher top speed. Having a .28cd versus the barn-like aerodynamics of the Focus helps too.

I'd say the FSVT is a more solid car though, it is a newer platform afterall, and Ford really started working on QC after the 2001 model year. I have 25K on the ZX5 now, most of which was on crappy Canadian ice ravaged roads with a 15" subwoofer running all the time. I have no rattles yet.

All the car needs is a little more grunt and it would be the perfect sport compact.

As much as I hate to admit it. The Focus owns the Contour in AutoX, and that's coming from someone with a balls out Contour made for AutoXing (Turbo, Aussie Bar, GC's, Konis and slicks!)

Yeah, I havent driven an FSVT, but when the tour was getting the trans rebuilt I rented a regular focus and was immediately impressed by how sharp and firm the steering was, and how rock-solid and well put together the car felt like overall. The structure was always quiet over potholes and bumps.
The CSVT feels kinda fragile by comparison, and big bumps or dips cause a loud "bang" from the suspension. Steering is quick but still kinda numb.
I love the duratec and the handling grip, but the feeling of cheapness annoys me
