Our perfect CONTOUR is not running very well lately. It is missing under acceleration and chugs a little while maintaining steady speed at slow sppeds (15-40 MPH). It is a 5 speed Xmission.
Recently the high pressure Schraeder valve leaked all of the FREON out (Just in time for SUMMER!) Oh well I can fix that easy enough after the engine.
As well, the CEL has come on even though it is still running, basically the same.
The fuel filter is less than a year old as well as the wires/plugs. Maybe 5,000 miles as we drive this car very little.
Questions:
1) Ideas of what problem(s) could be?
2) What is a decent computer code reader I can get for ~$50 or less at Hi-Lo/O'Rieley, NAPA, or Auto Zone?
3) Any other tips will be greatly appreciated....Thanks
