Can someone please informe me about the scehdualed maintenace that should be preformed on my mystique's mtx?

When i bought her at 65,000km last summer i was informed by the previous onwer that he had already done the friction modififer change over.

She is now just shy of 100,000km and i'm sending her out to have the 100k mainteance done but i dont see anything about mtx maintenace.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE MANUAL TRANAXLE OIL?

THANKS,
JCA

Ford will tell you never (as most companies say, most manual transmission are not needed to be changed.)

But me personaly, i change mine about every 7,000 to 10,000. I us ReD Line MTL transmission fluid for my car in stead of the ATF cocktail that ford and orthers reconmend...Don;t get me wron the CockTail is great, but i find that Red Line Works better for me car.

Every 1-2 years or 15-20k for dino fluid.

Ever 2-3 years or 30-40k for a quality synthetic.

ATF fluid (original spec) needs to be changed significantly sooner than a synthetic gear oil (new spec) does.

I have changed mine 3 times in 3yrs/31k. 500-1000 miles (cocktail), 16k (cocktail), 31k (Redline)

I would recommend changing it more often if you drive it hard at all. Both times I changed the cocktail at 15k it was pretty harsh looking. Not surprising for an ATF used in a manual tranny.

I also highly recommend the Redline MTL.
