i always attach a plastic bag w/a rubberband over the coil pack,and open air filter before i wash out the engine bay...
after all is dry,take a can of tire foam,and spray the whole engine compartment(including the metal parts)let it dry and then just lightly wipe over everything to even it out,everything will shine like new.....but keep in mind dust will attract to it a little easier....
