LMFAO, You have been on this site what less then a week and you think you know what your talking about. If you dont know what your talking about then STFU. people have noticed a differnce and we have seen the dyno numbers between the 2. Do a search on this since it has been beaten to death.

i got my k&n ru 3530 from here:
www.ajusa.com
$33 shipped
and i also noticed a big difference when switching from the kkm to the k&n...the only good thing about the kkm setup is the maf adapter, which i used with the k&n....

Wow is the ignorance rampant here.
1. Go with what's popular. There's a brilliant way to make your decisions. Sheesh.
2. Even though countless people have seen it happen or had it happen to them.
Even though multiple people have proved it produces less HP on the dyno.
3. Shifting too early I see. You are not even at your HP peak and you are shifting. Why would you not use the entire powerband. That makes no sense (nevermind it does make sense after reading your post)
You are most definitely short changing your engine and performance driving in such a manner.
4. That I'd probably buy. Depending on mods (no F.I. of course) the gains vs a KKM is in the 2-4 FWHP range. Maybe only really noticeable on the higher modified cars and in cool weather.
5. Well that depends on many factors. On the dyno run that my KKM self imploded it dropped a hell of a lot more the 1-2 HP. It dropped around 4-7 FWHP/TQ throughout the entire powerband. Now just think that can be happening any time you are driving and without warning! What you think may be heatsoak may in fact be the KKM filter imploding.
Figured I might as well add a few more points to clear things up even more.
Doing a K&N setup is CHEAPER.
Dyno proven to make MORE POWER.
Will NOT IMPLODE due to the inverse cone design.
The filtering area of the KKM filter is SUB-STANDARD (~520cfm effective area IIRC)
The "most common" K&N choice (RU-3530) has a 645cfm effective area.
This affects power production, filter longevity, and filtering ability.
Now why again would you spend more money to get less power while suffering through side effects of a flawed design that will need replacing sooner.
