Hey guys... good news, I made my own cold air intake today. I went to Home Depot today and purchased a 1.5" pool vaccum tube about 3 1/2 feet long. I fitted one end into the opening in the kkm and bent it around, then pulled it down to the ground through a a tight opening near the battery, then tucked it underneath little spoke just inside the wheel on the drivers side. A little duct tape (no one will ever see) holds the tube opening in place facing the road about 6inches behind the lower air damn. I couldn't run it right up to the lower air damn since theres a bunch of crap in the way, but it seems just functional placed slightly behind/below it. It looks cool, you can see the blue/black tube when looking at front driver wheel. I guess I'd need a pic to really show what i mean.
I took it for a spin several times and it seems to help. The kkm seems to begin its roar 250-500 rpms earlier, which means more air intake. Pick up may have improved a little bit, but it should certainly make a difference in the hot So Cal summer heat. My only concern now is that the tube doesn't begin to melt because its touching anying hot under the hood. I pulled it tight but i suspect it slightly touches a piece that gets pretty hot (not sure what it is). Hope it doesn't melt, I'll keep ya posted because it was a cheap and easy mod!
