You could do that, but it probably won't make much difference. i switched to a closed end K&N filtercharger and noticed better results than with my KKM....you can plug up the connector to the fender with a towel, rubbermaid container, etc. to see what i'm talking about. The dual opening on the KKM actually cost horsepower.
