Just a suggestion, try going to your local hobby shop and getting some R/C car body paint. It etches the plastic so no sanding and it won't chip off. And it comes in every color you could ever dream of including different pearl colors. theres even spray on color tints you could mess with. Only thing is it dries flat, so you'll need a clear coat of some sort. I did a deep pearl blue on my old car and it worked perfectly!
