I was looking at this 350W sub amp for a home stereo.

I know there are lots of Stryke fans lurking about here. I'm planning on getting a 12" sub and box for my home theater, and running them with that amp. Seems to be plenty of power out of it. The only downside being the 0.10% THD. But its a sub, so that should be fine.

Any opinions on this amp?

Should be fine. Specs are good for a subwoofer amp. Would suggest you check into HomeTheaterTalk.com or HomeTheaterForum.com for more DIY info on thier forums.

Also check Adire Audio at www.adireaudio.com for their Tempest 15" driver. Makes a super sub for home music and home theater appls. Their Shiva 12" is very good, too, just the Tempest makes a great most-bang-for-the-buck setup if you don't mind the size (5-8 cu ft. ported sub pushing down to 16 Hz and lower)

Adire has a AVA250 plate amp, very much like the Stryke's, just rated at 250 watts instead of 350. Note that the 100 watts is really only a 1.5 dB difference. Adire's version comes with a gentle highpass filter at ~18 hz that stops ultra-low bass heavy DVD soundtracks from bottoming out your driver.

This amp looks remarkably similar to the 250W Sub Amp that Parts Express sells for $130. Check it out before you spend more $$ than you need. The Parts Express spec sheet rates the amp at 180Wrms @ 8 ohm and 250Wrms @ 4 ohm. It is possible the Stryke Audio amp has uprated electronics.

I have a pair of these amps powering a pair of 12" sub cabinets in my listening room. More power than I need to generate really solid, clean bass.

Yeah, the Strykes is splitting image of the Parts Express amp and the Adire AVA250. Its got more power compared to the other two, which are both 250 watts. One thing that Part Express had (and the Strykes, too) is a 6 dB boost at about 30 Hz. This is actually bad for a home theater sub-woofer if you have a good driver that goes down to ~20 Hz or lower. The boost will add to a "one-note bass" quality. A flat response will sound better. The Adire AVA250 does not have this boost.

I have not check on PE amp for sometime, but they may have started to offer the amp without that boost. There are a number of resources available with instructions on disabling the boost circuit. So if you're handy with a solder iron, it can be fixed if its still there.

PE amp comes with bassboost and instructions to disable.
Stryke/Apexjr (APex Senior amp) are sourced from the same manufacturer.
Adire Amp has probably got the best features of the three but is the most costly per watt.

I would get the Cerwin Vega 300w amp from www.apexjr.com for 140.00 if it were my decision.
