Sorry its so long

As with the rest of you in the CEG I love my tour to death but I guess it may get retired to the project closet. After much unfortunate luck early this year with my ATX Tranny I guess I may have to look for another car to get me around for a while. This is what happened. First of all my tour had almost 116,000m on it when the OEM tranny blew up. OK, no problem I'll just stroll to my local junkyard, which happens to be about 30m away, and pick one up. After I pick my jaw up off the floor I agree to pay the $742 they want for my tranny. About 4 days later I got the call that they had it in. I picked it up and was told that the tranny has a 30 day warranty on it. I install it and after working out some wiring gremlins all seems well. Apperently something wasn't right because 35 days and approx 3000m later in the middle of traffic, my car no longer has any gears and is making horrible noises. After much cursing and swearing and some more work, the junkyard agreed to help me out and get another tranny in for me. After some more cursing they get me a tranny but for some reason decided to ship it to Maine. Luckily for me they caught their error and had the tranny delivered to me. The tranny that I recieved appeared to have sat outside for a great while. All the mounts were bent the manual position switch on top was siezed, and the inhibitor switch plug on top of the tranny was smashed to bits. After working around all of these things and put everything back together I fire it up. I noticed that I still had no gears. All things said and done I used up probable 100 or more man hours to get my $742 back for the same thing that was wrong to begin with. That didn't replace the other $100 that was spent on things like fluid and other misc. parts.

Now I am looking for another car or a parts car. I would prefer the parts car to be a compatible MTX tranny. I don't care about the engine or the body. If anyone knows where I can get a tour with a blown motor for fairly cheap, PLEASE let me know.

Thanx to anyone that can help.
